Electronic Engine Monitoring

Following the principle of safety first, the 1,050 and 1,300 Hp engines feature an electronic monitoring unit for the engine and the gearbox that guarantees maximum operational reliability. This is a major advantage for boatbuilders and owners alike.

Sensors record important engine parameters and consequently compare the actual figures with specified values.

The engine data recorded include engine speed, oil pressure, coolant temperature, coolant level, charge air temperature, and charging voltage of alternator.

In critical operating modes the monitoring unit intervenes directly with the EDC engine control. Fuel injection and thus engine speed are automatically reduced.

A further advantage of this intelligent system is the reduction and simplification of wiring between the engine room, control panel and flybridge. The connection between the engine's terminal box and the monitoring unit takes the form of bus cable with a centralized plug.

All accessories with the exception of electronic engine controls are standard equipment on all other light-duty marine engines.

Look for the new BE-3 system to be introduced with the D2876LE401 700 Hp in-line 6 cylinder engine in mid 2000.
