Because of their compact design and high specific output, MAN's high-speed diesel engines are used in ships of many types. The CRM series (cylinder bore 128 mm, stroke 155 or 142 mm) includes both 6-cylinder in-line engines with ratings from 550 to 800 hp and 8-, 10-, and 12-cylinder V models generating 900 to 1550 hp.
